Childish

This is another design that is part of a series of drawings I completed to practice digital illustration. This was by far the most detailed and challenging drawing I had ever done when I completed it in July 2018. The image that served as inspiration for this design comes from the album art on Childish Gambino’s “Because the Internet.

As with “Roma,” this illustration is an example of vector art where every line and shape are drawn as a series of points with my mouse. This drawing is comprised of more than 500 unique shapes. It took several weeks to complete.

I would probably elect for a different software if I were going to do something like this again. However, in the process of creating this, I honed my skills on Sketch to the point where I feel like I can do just about anything. That’s a good feeling!

Below, I broke apart the design to show how the work progressed.
