We are Going to Finland

Jessica and I are going to Helsinki, Finland for nine months starting September 1. She will be studying how Finland’s education system serves gifted immigrant students. I plan to volunteer and teach online until my visa processes. It still doesn’t feel real somehow.

We moved out of our apartment in mid-August, so we are wandering until we leave. All of our things are in a storage unit, packed to the ceiling. Our plants are dispersed among our friends with the greenest thumbs. We will see them again in June. With our bags packed and flights booked, all that remains is the uneasy anticipation of a new, mind-blowing experience.

For the curious, Finland is on the Baltic sea tucked between Sweden and Russia. You can check out Finland on the world map here. It’s a land full of lakes, forests, and saunas.

Jessica will use her side of the site to post pictures and updates about what she’s doing. I’ll use my side of the site to write and post some designs of my own. We expect our pages to evolve as our experience changes us. We hope you’ll get some enjoyment out of following along!
